Investing In Newhaven
Newhaven needs jobs and more affordable homes for local people. It also needs significant investment in its infrastructure to support its continuing regeneration. Our proposals for the Eastside site have been developed to help meet these objectives.
It is expected that the redevelopment will include around 300 new homes for local people and will create up to 400 jobs. Our masterplan for the site provides for a comprehensive and well-balanced mixed-use development.
Our proposals will also bring forward significant investment in Newhaven's infrastructure. As well as the investment in the site itself, as part of the redevelopment we will deliver a new road to allow better access to the site along its eastern perimeter. This road will also be the first phase of the proposed new port access road and this important investment will greatly improve access to Newhaven's port, supporting future regeneration and investment initiatives in the town.
We are proposing that the redevelopment includes:
Around 300 new homes - helping local people get on the housing ladder 14 commercial units in a range of sizes - providing facilities for small and medium- sized businesses A 40,000 square foot ASDA store - offering greater choice for local shoppers and keeping them shopping locally
A hotel and pub - providing facilities for visitors to Newhaven as well as for the community Significant investment in Newhaven's infrastructure, including the proposed new port access road
